Since 2001 the Patriot Act, has been used to spy on American citizens without warning or warrants. But Congress must renew the law this year, and Congress is already debating whether to just update the notorious act, or replace it with a whole new and better law.
At stake is whether the government will continue to have unfettered powers to spy on US citizens - prying into our emails, phone records, and even what library books we read - without due process.
Some Conservatives are already trying to use the threat of another terrorist attack to scare Congress into acting before the public even knows what's going on. We can't let that happen. Use this page to tell Congress to replace the Patriot act with a law with sensible security laws that defend our rights.
